Deleted Scene I Might Use Later

“What? You don’t think I know who you are?”

Kerry wanted to read his thoughts, but there was still a chance he wasn’t telling the truth.

“What are you babbling about?” she snapped.

His smile was enigmatic and more than a little annoying. “I know who you are.”

Without thinking, Kerry leveled her weapon at his face. “Now, how would you know that?”

He raised his hands to his sides. “I’m not armed, but it wouldn’t matter if I was.” He chuckled, a non-threatening sound that rumbled deep in his chest. “It is you. I was told you were a myth.”

“You must be mistaking me for someone who exists.” Kerry snarled. “Walk away, asshole. Forget you saw me.”

He threw his head back and laughed, and she saw his teeth were filed to points. “I’ll be your best friend if you let me leave without a bullet in my back.”

“I have enough friends. Walk.”

He bowed slightly, never taking his eyes off her. “Of course.” He took several steps backward, his hands still raised. “It’s been an honor, Ms. Sheridan.”

“Sure it has.”

Kerry shot him between the eyes. His face contorted in a split second of confusion before he fell to the pavement.

“Still friends?” she asked the corpse, and her laughter echoed down the alley. “I didn’t shoot you in the back.”
